Day by day

    Arrive and glide onto Dal Lake

    Your driver meets you at Srinagar Airport and takes you to your houseboat. Sip kahwa on the deck, then take a private one-hour shikara ride at sunset. Dinner on board. Overnight on the houseboat.

    Sonamarg day trip

    Drive 2.5 to 3 hours to Sonamarg, the "meadow of gold". Walk beside the Sindh River and ride a pony or hike towards Thajiwas Glacier. Return for a candlelight dinner on the deck, with flowers and a cake. If the road closes, we swap in Pari Mahal and the Mughal Gardens. Overnight on the houseboat.

    Srinagar to Gulmarg

    Drive about two hours to Gulmarg, a meadow basin at about 2,730 m. Ride the Gondola to Kongdoori (Phase 1) in the afternoon. Overnight in Gulmarg.

    A free day in Gulmarg

    Ride to Apharwat (Phase 2) early, if the weather allows. Wander the meadows, visit the Maharani Temple or stay in. In winter, try skiing or a sledge ride. Overnight in Gulmarg.

    Gulmarg to Pahalgam

    Drive about five hours with stops via Pampore and the Awantipora ruins. Saffron fields flower in late October to November. Walk beside the Lidder River. Overnight in Pahalgam.

    Betaab, Aru and an unhurried afternoon

    Visit Betaab Valley, Aru Valley and Chandanwari by local taxi in the morning. Spend the afternoon as you like. Overnight in Pahalgam.

    Pahalgam to Srinagar and the Mughal Gardens

    Drive about three hours to Srinagar. In the afternoon, stroll Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashme Shahi, then shop for shawls, saffron and dry fruits. Overnight in a Srinagar hotel.

    Departure

    After breakfast, transfer to Srinagar Airport.
