First-time visitors, couples, families and friends
Our driver meets you at Srinagar Airport and takes you to your hotel. After tea, take a one-hour shikara ride on Dal Lake and stroll through a Mughal garden if time allows. Go to bed early, because tomorrow starts at about 6 am. Overnight in Srinagar.
Leave early, because vehicles cross Zojila on a time schedule. Drive through Sonamarg, then climb over Zojila Pass at about 3,528 m. Stop at Drass, one of the coldest inhabited places in India, and pay your respects at the Kargil War Memorial. Reach Kargil by evening after about seven to eight hours on the road. Overnight in Kargil.
Drive about six to seven hours past the rock-cut Maitreya Buddha at Mulbekh and over Namika La and Fotu La, at about 4,100 m. Stop at Lamayuru for its old monastery and moon-like landscape, then arrive in Leh by evening. Rest after you check in. Overnight in Leh.
Take a slow morning, then visit Spituk Monastery and Leh Palace. Watch the sunset from Shanti Stupa. Leh sits at about 3,500 m, so keep the pace easy. Overnight in Leh.
Drive about five to six hours over Khardung La at about 5,359 m. Stay at the pass for 15 to 20 minutes only, because the air is thin. Visit Diskit Monastery and its giant Maitreya Buddha, then walk the Hunder sand dunes at sunset. Ride a Bactrian camel if you like. Overnight in Nubra.
Drive about six to seven hours via the Shyok route to Pangong Lake at about 4,350 m. Watch the water shift from turquoise to deep blue, then stay for sunset and a sky full of stars. Nights are cold, so keep your warm layers handy. Overnight at Pangong.
Catch the sunrise on the shore, then drive about five to six hours over Chang La at about 5,360 m. On the way, stop at Shey Palace and Thiksey Monastery. Overnight in Leh.
Leave after breakfast and drive about six to seven hours. Stop at the Hall of Fame, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Magnetic Hill and Sangam, where the Indus and Zanskar rivers meet. Overnight in Kargil.

No. You book flights separately, and we meet you at Srinagar Airport.
Most travellers fly to Srinagar Airport (SXR). Flights from Delhi take under two hours, and direct or one-stop flights connect other major cities. Arriving in Jammu or Katra? We arrange a road pickup from Jammu Tawi station or Jammu Airport on request.
Eight nights and nine days cover the drive to Leh, Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake and the drive back at a steady pace. Add a night in Srinagar or Leh if you want a slower trip.
It covers Dal Lake, Sonamarg, Zojila, Drass, Kargil, Lamayuru, Leh, Khardung La, Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake.
June to September brings the warmest weather and open roads. Zojila usually opens in late spring and closes in heavy winter snow, and we confirm the road status before you travel.
Yes, with an experienced driver. Zojila is narrow and steep in places, and vehicles move in set time slots. We start early each day, so you cross the high passes in daylight and good weather.
The road climbs in steps: Srinagar sits at about 1,600 m, Kargil at about 2,700 m and Leh at about 3,500 m. That helps your body adjust, but altitude affects everyone differently. Drink plenty of water, rest on arrival, ask your doctor about altitude medicine, and tell your driver at once if you feel unwell.
Srinagar to Kargil takes about seven to eight hours, and Kargil to Leh about six to seven hours. Leh to Nubra takes five to six hours, Nubra to Pangong six to seven, and Pangong to Leh five to six.
Your Srinagar cab takes you to Leh and back. In Leh, Nubra and Pangong, a local Ladakh driver takes over for sightseeing, because Ladakh's local taxi rules require it. Your coordinator stays the same throughout.
Yes, both areas need paperwork. Indian travellers pay a Ladakh environment fee, and foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit. We arrange the paperwork, and you pay the fees directly. Carry a valid photo ID.
We hold you at a safe stop and restart the plan when the road clears, or we change the order of the days. Your coordinator stays in touch through the trip and explains every change.
Yes. You can fly from Leh and skip the return drive. We remove the return nights and adjust the plan.
Postpaid SIMs from Airtel, Jio and BSNL work in Kashmir and Leh, and prepaid SIMs from outside J&K do not. Signal is patchy on the high roads and in Nubra and Pangong.
Yes, with care. The route has long drives at high altitude. Check with your doctor first if anyone has heart, lung or blood pressure conditions, and tell us the ages in your group.
