Day by day

  1. 1

    Arrive in Srinagar and rest

Our driver meets you at Srinagar Airport and takes you to your hotel. We check your yatra permit, health certificate and photo ID with you, so nothing is missing at the gate. Rest well, and take a gentle walk by Dal Lake only if you feel fresh. Overnight in Srinagar.

  2. 2

    Srinagar to Sonamarg

Drive about two and a half to three hours through the Sindh Valley. Sonamarg sits at about 2,700 m, so a night here helps your body adjust before the climb. Pack your day bag, eat an early dinner and sleep. Overnight in Sonamarg.

  3. 3

Yatra day: Baltal to the holy cave

Leave before dawn and drive about 15 km to Baltal. Cross the Domel gate with your permit and RFID card, then walk the steep 14 km trail, or hire a pony, palki or porter. Reach the holy cave for darshan, then walk or ride back down. Return to your Sonamarg hotel in the evening. If the weather delays you, we hold your room and adjust the plan. Overnight in Sonamarg.

  4. 4

    Rest day in Srinagar

Drive back to Srinagar after breakfast and rest. In the afternoon, walk through Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh, then take your complimentary shikara ride on Dal Lake. This day also works as your buffer if the yatra pauses. Overnight in Srinagar.

  5. 5

After breakfast, transfer to Srinagar Airport. For flights after 1 pm, we add a morning stop at Chashme Shahi.

Good to know

Can this itinerary be changed?

Yes. Hotels, the number of nights and the sightseeing can be adjusted around your yatra permit date. Your coordinator sends you the revised plan.

Are airport transfers included?

Yes. Our driver meets you at Srinagar Airport and drops you back for your departure.

What is the cancellation policy?

Terms depend on your booking date and the services booked. Read our booking policies or ask your coordinator.

Does the package include flights?

No. You book flights separately, and we meet you at Srinagar Airport.

How do I reach Kashmir for this package?

Most travellers fly to Srinagar Airport (SXR). Flights from Delhi take under two hours, and direct or one-stop flights connect other major cities. Arriving in Jammu or Katra? We arrange a road pickup from Jammu Tawi station or Jammu Airport on request.

How many days do you need for the Amarnath Yatra?

Four nights and five days cover the Baltal-route yatra with a rest day and a buffer day. Add two or three nights if you choose the Pahalgam route.

Which places does this Amarnath Yatra package from Srinagar cover?

It covers Srinagar, Sonamarg, Baltal, the holy cave and the Mughal gardens.

Who can join the Amarnath Yatra?

The Shrine Board allows pilgrims aged 13 to 70 with a valid Compulsory Health Certificate. Women more than six weeks pregnant cannot join. Rules can change each year, so we confirm them with you before you book.

How do I register for the yatra?

Register through the Shrine Board's official channels. You need your photo ID, photographs and a health certificate in the Shrine Board's format. We guide you through each step and check your documents before you travel.

Which route is easier, Baltal or Pahalgam?

The Baltal route covers about 14 km and is steep, but you finish in a day. The Pahalgam route covers 36 to 48 km over three or four days, with a gentler gradient. This package uses Baltal, and we plan Pahalgam on request.

Can I do the yatra on a pony or palki?

Yes. You can hire a pony, palki or porter on the route, and the Shrine Board manages the booking. Senior travellers and children often choose this option.

Is the helicopter included?

No. Helicopter service depends on the Shrine Board each year, and the Shrine Board runs the bookings. We tell you what is available for your dates before you plan.

When does the Amarnath Yatra run?

The yatra runs for several weeks in July and August, and the Shrine Board announces the dates each year. It usually ends around Raksha Bandhan, and the final days are the busiest.

What happens if weather pauses the yatra?

Rain and landslides can pause the yatra. We use your buffer day, hold your hotels where we can and move your darshan to the next permitted day. Your coordinator stays in touch through the trip.

How cold does it get at the holy cave?

Temperatures drop close to freezing at night, even in summer, and rain is common. Carry thermals, a rain poncho and warm gloves.

What should I carry for the yatra?

Carry your permit, health certificate and photo ID, plus trekking shoes with good grip and a walking stick. Pack thermals, a rain poncho, dry fruits, glucose and any regular medicines. Keep your bag light.

How do I prepare for the climb?

Walk 5 to 6 km every day for three weeks before you travel, and practise climbing stairs. Drink plenty of water on the way, rest often and see your doctor first if you have heart, breathing or blood pressure conditions.

Can I add Kashmir sightseeing after the yatra?

Yes. We add Gulmarg and Pahalgam, or extend the plan with a few more nights. Ask your coordinator for the revised plan.
